
Emily and I decided to do our Fashion Promotion Choice project on Spencer’s because it’s an unconventional store that we feel somewhat matches our personality and it’s one of the few local stores we felt would be good to analyze. Overall, we found that Spencer’s and visual merchandising do not mix. It’s almost like they put alot of products into the store for sale without any kind of organization at all. There weren’t any major signage, mannequins that displayed products, nor was there any floor signs that somewhat directed traffic through the store. There are some major changes that Spencer’s as a whole can improve their visual appeal, but the store serves it’s purpose and it’s customers well. From this assignment, I learned how to effectively spot marketing techniques and tactics and how to properly make a store visually appealing. Overall, I really enjoyed this project because it was hand’s on and I was able to build a good relationship with a classmate I usually don’t interact with.
