Visual Merchandising Analysis #5

THE GOOD

This display really made me happy. Looking closely at the display, I want to assume that there is some kind of market near by that is locally growing and sourcing materials/produce for the neighborhoods market. Not only did it make me happy that this is a fairly productive display, but I’m happy that the community is working together to help themselves and their local farm. Anywho, this display was good to me because yes, there was a lot going on, but it tells a story about where these products are coming from, but also what is being sold. If you look closely, you can see flowers, eggs, cabbage, corn, and a barn meaning that milk may be sourced from this local farm as well. The little intricate pieces of this puzzle will eventually pull an inquiring mind in to wonder what all of the pieces mean and where they come from. Whoever curated this display, did an amazing job.

THE BAD

This display of merchandise is terrible. Not only is there no direction or creativity, but no elements of visual merchandising either. These two-tiered tables which are most likely displayed at the front of the store both have piles upon piles of products on them. There is no real design or thought put into what should be displayed or how it should be displayed. All of the products are simply just stacked on one another.
